What is gas processing equipment?

Equipment that conditions a gas stream before it goes downstream — drying, scrubbing and purification that remove moisture, liquids, particulate and contaminants so the gas meets the spec the process or pipeline requires.

What's the difference between a dryer, a scrubber and a purification system?

What each removes. Scrubbers knock out liquids and particulate. Dryers remove water vapor to a target dewpoint. Purification systems go further, taking specific contaminants to the low-ppm or sub-ppm levels that electronics, laboratory and medical use demand.

What should I inspect on used drying or purification equipment?

Desiccant or media condition and age — on anything that has been idle or in service a long time, assume replacement and price it in. Then the vessels for corrosion, the switching valves and controls, the regeneration system where fitted, and the instrumentation. Ask for the last dewpoint performance data, which tells you what it actually achieved rather than what it was rated for.

What should I ask about before buying?

What gas it processed, inlet conditions it ran at, hours in service, why it was decommissioned, and how it was preserved afterwards. Media type and last change-out date matter, as does whether the vessels are code stamped.
