Air Products commits $250 million to supply a U.S. chip plant in Arizona
September 16, 2026
Air Products has signed a long-term contract to supply high-purity industrial gases to a leading semiconductor manufacturer expanding in Arizona, and plans to invest about $250 million to do it. The customer was not named.
The project covers on-site hydrogen generation, carbon dioxide purification, and bulk supply systems for helium, hydrogen and CO2 — along with storage, purification and analytical equipment and pipeline infrastructure. Supply is planned to come online in phases.
Air Products called it its second recent semiconductor win, with combined investment across the two topping $900 million. The company has operated in Chandler, Arizona since 1981.
What it means for equipment buyers
New fabs pull steady volumes of bulk gas and need storage, purification and backup supply around them. Expect continued demand in the Southwest for bulk cryogenic storage, high-purity gas handling equipment and the service work that keeps it running.
