Questions buyers ask

What is the current certification status and next inspection date?

The test date shown is 12/1994 and the CSC approval number is F/BV/4366/94. No documentation of subsequent requalification or current certification status is provided in the listing. ISO tank containers typically require periodic inspection and recertification at 2.5 or 5 year intervals depending on service and jurisdiction, so you should request current certification records and hydrostatic test documentation from the seller before proceeding.

What product has it carried, and what can it be converted to?

Last service was liquid oxygen (LOX). The listing provides hold times for oxygen, argon, LNG, and nitrogen, indicating the vessel is suitable for these cryogenic gases. Conversion between oxygen and inert gases (argon, nitrogen, LNG) typically requires thorough cleaning and purging due to oxidizer contamination concerns, while switching among inerts is generally simpler—ask the seller about decontamination records and what cleaning has been performed since oxygen service.

What is the tare and payload at service pressure?

Tare weight is 7,589 kg (16,730 lbs) and payload capacity is 22,891 kg (50,465 lbs) with a maximum gross weight of 30,480 kg (67,196 lbs). These figures represent the ISO container's rated capacities at the 150 PSIG working pressure.

What should I inspect on a used ISO tank before buying?

Focus on vacuum insulation integrity (check hold time performance data and vacuum gauge readings), inner vessel condition including welds and any stress corrosion cracking in the 304 stainless, outer jacket integrity and paint condition, all valves and instrumentation function, and framework structural soundness including ISO corner castings and tie-down points. Request current hydrostatic test results, radiography reports if available, and operating records showing actual hold times in recent service—the 80-day oxygen hold time listed may reflect as-new performance rather than current condition.
