Questions buyers ask

What is the current certification status and next inspection date?

The listing does not state the current certification status or next inspection date. DOT cryogenic cargo tanks built to Spec E1186 typically require periodic requalification and pressure testing, so you should ask the seller for the last inspection date, current certification status, and any available test documentation.

What product has it carried, and what can it be converted to?

This tank has been used in Liquid Nitrogen (LIN), Liquid Oxygen (LOX), Liquid Argon (LAR), and LNG (Methane) service. It is insulated for oxygen service and designed for these four cryogens. Prior oxygen service generally limits conversion options—you should confirm the service history documentation and verify that any intended product is compatible with the tank's material specifications and past use before repurposing.

What is the tare and payload at service pressure?

The estimated weight is 17,100 lbs and the GVWR is 63,000 lbs, but the listing does not state the certified tare weight or the payload capacity at operating pressure. You should request the current tare weight from the data plate or last inspection records to calculate actual payload, as tare can change with modifications or equipment additions.

What should I inspect on a used ISO tank before buying?

Inspect the inner vessel for cracks, corrosion, or damage especially at welds and stress points; verify vacuum integrity and super insulation performance; check piping, valves, and relief devices for wear or previous freeze damage; and examine the outer jacket and support system for structural integrity. Review all certification records, hydrostatic and pressure test results, and confirm the unit's service history matches its material specifications—prior oxygen service requires particularly careful documentation.
