Gas Capacity Calculator

Enter a vessel's water volume and service pressure to get gas capacity in standard cubic feet (SCF) — or enter the gas volume you need and we'll size the vessel. Calculations at 70°F using engineering compressibility tables.

How it works

Real gases don't compress ideally — helium, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, argon, air, and natural gas each deviate differently as pressure rises. This calculator uses per-gas compressibility factors from industry engineering tables rather than the ideal gas law, so capacities reflect what your vessel actually holds at fill pressure. Results assume 70°F; deduct for safety relief valve settings per your application.
