Questions buyers ask

What is the current vacuum reading, and what is the NER?

The listing does not provide a current vacuum reading or normal evaporation rate (NER). You should request the most recent vacuum gauge reading and the NER in percentage-per-day; for a vacuum-insulated CO₂ tank this size, typical NER values range from 0.5% to 2.5% per day depending on insulation condition, but only a site measurement will tell you where this unit stands.

What product has it held, and what can it be converted to?

This tank was built for refrigerated liquid CO₂ storage and has been in CO₂ service. Conversion to other cryogenic fluids typically requires complete material compatibility review, cleaning/purging protocols, and may require re-rating or modification depending on the target product's temperature and pressure characteristics—consult with an ASME-authorized inspector before planning any service change.

Is the data plate legible, and is the U-1A available?

The listing confirms National Board number 10091 and serial number 07371, but does not state whether the data plate is physically legible or whether the original U-1A Manufacturer's Data Report is on hand. Request photos of the nameplate and confirmation that the U-1A (or a certified copy from the National Board) will transfer with the vessel.

What is involved in relocating and re-commissioning it?

The tank is currently secured and piped for shipment from Waxahachie, TX. Re-commissioning typically involves verifying vacuum integrity, pressure-testing per jurisdiction requirements, recalibrating the Emerson controller and all pressure/temperature safeties, and ensuring local electrical supply matches one of the factory-wired configurations (220V–575V options listed). Most jurisdictions will require a registered PE or authorized inspector to sign off before returning the vessel to service.
