Questions buyers ask
What drive, power and cooling does it require?
The unit is powered by a 10 HP, 230/460V, 3-phase Baldor Reliance XEX motor with TEFC (totally enclosed fan-cooled) construction and Class F insulation. You'll need to confirm the actual compression block cooling arrangement—most natural gas reciprocating packages use either air-cooled aftercoolers with forced air fans or water-cooled interstage and aftercoolers requiring a separate cooling water supply at 5-10 GPM.
What are the running hours and what has been rebuilt?
The listing does not state running hours or detail any rebuilds or component replacements. On multi-stage reciprocating natural gas compressors, valves, piston rings, and packing typically require inspection or replacement every 4,000 to 8,000 hours depending on gas quality and duty cycle, so ask the seller for the hour meter reading and maintenance records documenting valve, ring, and bearing work.
What should I inspect on a used compressor before buying?
Inspect all compression stages for valve seat condition, piston ring wear, and rod packing leaks by running the unit and checking discharge temperatures and interstage pressures against design. Check motor bearings for noise and vibration, verify all gauges and the HMI display accuracy, test all safety interlocks including the E-stop and high-pressure shutdowns, and inspect stainless tubing and fittings for cracks or previous leak repairs. Confirm the compressor block serial number and request capacity test data if available.
