Questions buyers ask

Is this ASME or DOT rated, and what does that allow me to do with it?

This is an ASME vessel built to National Board Model 262 specifications. ASME certification allows you to install it as a stationary pressure vessel at a fixed facility, subject to local jurisdiction and applicable state boiler and pressure vessel codes. DOT certification would be required for transport of pressurized contents over public roads, which this unit does not carry.

What is the MAWP and capacity at service pressure?

The maximum allowable working pressure is 25 PSIG for the shell and 110 PSIG for the nest. The listing does not specify volumetric capacity or vessel dimensions; you'll need to request drawings or a dimensional diagram from the seller to calculate usable volume for your application.

What is the requalification or inspection status?

The listing does not state current inspection or requalification status. Before purchase, request documentation showing the most recent authorized inspector examination, any repair forms (R-forms), and verification that the unit remains in the National Board's registry with no holds or restrictions.

What should I inspect before putting it into service?

At minimum, verify the data plate is legible and matches National Board records, inspect all welds and the shell for corrosion or deformation, and check that pressure relief devices are present and within test date. Given the -320°F rating, this was likely cryogenic service; confirm material certifications are suitable for your intended service temperature and that any previous cryogenic use hasn't caused embrittlement. ASME vessels require an authorized inspector's sign-off before initial installation in most jurisdictions.
