Description

This is a 2022 GasCon mobile cryogenic trailer combining a 22,000-liter vacuum-insulated storage vessel with an integrated ambient vaporizer rated for 36,000 SCFH at 700 psi. The storage vessel is ASME VIII Div. 1 certified with a MAWP of 17.2 bar (249.5 psi) at 50°C, manufactured in South Africa by Gascon ADO Southey Holding (Pty) Ltd as model A17,2.220A. The unit carries ADR/RID, IMDG, US DOT (UN Portable T75), UIC Railway, and Transport Canada approvals, with holding times documented for nitrogen (69 days), oxygen (100 days), argon (79 days), and nitrous oxide (352 days). Condition: New Flow Rate Up To: 36,000 SCFH Max Design Pressure: 700 psi Service: LOX, LIN, LAR, LNG Design: -320F Base: Galvanize Steel Frame More information on the vaporizer can be see here: https://regaspro.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/36000-SCFH-Ambient-Vaporizer-13-11-25.pdf

Questions buyers ask

Is this sized for my peak demand or my average?

The 36,000 SCFH vaporization capacity represents the maximum continuous output under rated conditions, which should align with your peak demand if you're drawing continuously. Ambient vaporizers typically derate in cold weather, high humidity, or sustained duty cycles, so if your peak runs longer than 30-60 minutes or occurs in winter months, expect 70-85% of nameplate capacity. The 22,000-liter storage vessel provides buffer capacity to handle brief demand spikes above vaporizer output or to supply gas during vaporizer maintenance.

What gases can it be put into service with, given what it ran before?

The vaporizer specifications list compatibility with LOX, LIN, LAR, and LNG, and the holding times documented for nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and nitrous oxide indicate the vessel has been validated for those services. The listing does not specify which gas this unit actually ran, so ask the seller for service history records—vessels previously in oxygen service require oxygen cleaning verification before switching to hydrocarbon service like LNG, while the reverse requires degreasing and passivation. Cross-contamination risk and cleaning costs depend entirely on the specific gas transition.

What are the installation and utility requirements?

Ambient vaporizers require no electrical power or steam but need adequate airflow around the fin array and clearance per NFPA codes based on stored gas type—typically 25-50 feet from structures for cryogenic oxygen. The galvanized steel frame suggests this trailer is designed for gravel or paved pad placement with level grading; ask the seller for foundation drawings, required setback distances for the specific gases you'll store, and whether vent stack height or orientation was modified from factory configuration. The 700 psi discharge pressure may require a pressure-reducing station before tying into lower-pressure plant headers.

What should I inspect on a used vaporizer before buying?

Inspect fin bundles for ice buildup patterns, corrosion, or physical damage that reduces heat transfer area—bent or crushed fins significantly reduce capacity and indicate possible impact or improper defrost cycling. Check all cryogenic piping connections, expansion joints, and valve packing for leaks or frost patterns, examine vacuum insulation integrity by reviewing pressure rise test data or looking for localized frosting on the outer shell, and verify current certification status of both the ASME vessel and the DOT/TC portable tank. Ask for the most recent holding time test results, pressure relief valve test certifications, and any third-party inspection reports, especially if the unit saw oxygen service where cleanliness validation matters.
