Questions buyers ask
What pressure, flow and temperature is it rated for?
This gauge is rated for -40°F to 158°F. The listing does not specify a pressure rating; LP tank gauges are typically matched to the tank's design pressure, so confirm with the seller what pressure range this model is rated for and whether it matches your vessel. Flow rating does not apply—this is a static level indicator, not a flow meter.
What gases is it compatible with, and has it been oxygen cleaned?
This gauge is designed specifically for liquid propane (LP gas) service. The listing does not state whether it has been oxygen cleaned, and given its LP-specific construction with nitrile rubber float and lead counterweight, it is not suitable for oxygen service even if cleaned. Use only for propane or consult the manufacturer for compatibility with other gases.
What materials are the wetted parts?
Wetted components include the precision-machined brass head, stainless steel internal hardware (center shaft bearings, pinion gears, cross stud and bearings, sector gear), tempered aluminum support and float rod, nitrile rubber float, and lead counterweight. The gear housing is high-strength acetal, though this is typically non-wetted depending on seal configuration.
What should I inspect before putting it into service?
Verify the brass head threads and sealing surfaces for wear, corrosion, or damage that could compromise tank integrity. Check that the float moves freely along the rod without binding, inspect the nitrile float for hardening or swelling (common with age or wrong service), and confirm the dial responds smoothly through the full range—magnetic coupling can weaken or the hermetic seal can fail. Confirm the mounting length matches your tank depth and that all stainless hardware is present and corrosion-free.
