Questions buyers ask

What condition are the coil and shell in, and how would I verify that?

The listing states inspection is completed but does not include coil or shell condition findings. During evaluation, request the inspection report and examine the steam-side tubing for erosion, scaling, or pitting; check the cryogenic coil path for corrosion or deposits from condensed water vapor; and verify shell integrity with ultrasonic thickness measurements at suspected corrosion points. Previous cryogenic service can cause embrittlement in carbon steel components if improperly stress-relieved.

What should I check before putting a used steam vaporizer into service?

Verify pressure relief devices are in-date and set correctly for your system, hydrostatically test both steam and process sides to operating pressure, confirm steam traps and condensate drains function properly, and check all flanges and gaskets for competency. On cryogenic service, leak-test with nitrogen before introducing product, verify all instrumentation is calibrated, and inspect for ice bridging or flow restriction from previous moisture ingress that could have frozen in the coil passages.
