Questions buyers ask

What capacity and discharge pressure does it actually deliver?

This unit delivers 250 SCFM at 100 PSI inlet pressure with a discharge pressure of 4,500 PSIG. The inlet pressure range is 80–115 PSI, and capacity will vary with inlet conditions—CNG compressors typically follow a mass flow relationship, so capacity drops proportionally as inlet pressure decreases below the rated 100 PSI.

What drive, power and cooling does it require?

The compressor is driven by a 125 HP electric motor rated at 460V, 156A, 3-phase, 60Hz, operating at 1,800 RPM. The compressor itself runs at 1,230 RPM, indicating a belt drive arrangement. The listing does not specify cooling requirements, so confirm with the seller whether this is air-cooled or requires a glycol or water cooling circuit.

What are the running hours and what has been rebuilt?

The unit has less than 1,500 operating hours and will be fully refurbished prior to shipment, including cleaning, repainting, and installation of new belts, oil, and air filters. At this hour count the compressor is well within its first service interval—reciprocating CNG compressors typically reach first major overhaul at 15,000–20,000 hours—so core components should not require rebuild yet. Service records showing maintenance history are available.

What should I inspect on a used compressor before buying?

Focus on the high-pressure packing, valve condition, and cylinder bore wear, as these drive rebuild costs on reciprocating compressors. Request a borescope inspection of cylinders and verification that interstage pressures fall within design limits during a run test. Check the control panel for alarm history, verify crankcase oil analysis if available, and confirm belt condition and alignment even after refurbishment. The listing notes that full functionality testing through a third party is available.
