Questions buyers ask
Is this ASME or DOT rated, and what does that allow me to do with it?
This is an ASME-rated pressure vessel. ASME certification allows you to use it as a stationary pressure vessel in industrial process applications, air receiver service, or gas distribution systems where a fixed installation is required—it is not certified for transportation of compressed gases, which requires DOT rating.
What is the MAWP and capacity at service pressure?
The maximum allowable working pressure is 150 PSI at 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The vessel is designed for 1100 SCFM capacity at 150 PSIG, with a design temperature range of 32-130 degrees Fahrenheit and a minimum metal temperature rating of -20 degrees Fahrenheit at 150 PSI.
What should I inspect before putting it into service?
ASME vessels typically require a thorough external visual inspection for corrosion, dents, and weld integrity, plus verification that the nameplate and stamping are intact and legible. You should also have a qualified inspector verify wall thickness via ultrasonic testing if service history is unknown, check all nozzles and connections for thread damage or erosion, and confirm that relief devices are present and properly sized for your intended service—previous contents may have left residues that affect material compatibility or require cleaning before repurposing.
