Questions buyers ask
What flow and head is this rated for, and at what NPSH?
This is a vacuum pump, not a centrifugal pump, so flow, head, and NPSH do not apply. Rotary vane vacuum pumps are rated by pumping speed (CFM or m³/hr) and ultimate vacuum (pressure in Torr or mbar), but those specifications are not provided in this listing. Ask the seller for the pumping speed at atmospheric inlet and the ultimate vacuum rating for this RA 0025 model.
What seals, materials and drive does it have?
The unit has an oil-sealed rotary vane design and is driven by a 1.5 HP TEFC motor rated for 230/460V, 3-phase, 60 Hz at 1800 RPM. Specific vane material, housing construction, and seal types are not listed; rotary vane pumps typically use carbon composite or phenolic vanes with FKM or NBR oil seals depending on application, so ask the seller for material specifications if process compatibility matters.
What should I inspect on a used pump before buying?
Check the vanes for wear, scoring, or chipping, and verify they move freely in their slots without binding. Inspect the pump housing and rotor for scoring or corrosion, examine oil condition and check for contamination or moisture, verify shaft seal integrity with no oil weepage, and rotate the shaft by hand to feel for smooth operation without catching or excessive endplay. On oil-sealed units, contamination from process gases or condensables can ruin tolerances, so ask what the pump handled and whether oil changes were performed on schedule.
