Questions buyers ask
What capacity, working pressure and NER is it rated for?
Each trailer has a gross capacity of 17,600 gallons (66,623 liters) with a maximum allowable working pressure of 155 psig at 100°F and a minimum design metal temperature of -423°F at 155 psi. Maximum payload is 9,665 lbs LH2 with water capacity of 146,439 lbs. The listing provides an MRHT (Maximum Rated Hold Time) of 266 hours but does not state a specific NER—confirm with the seller whether this refers to normal evaporation rate or if separate NER data is available.
What product has it carried, and what can it legally be converted to?
These are brand new units with no prior service history. The listing states they are "insulated for O2 service," which typically means PERLITE insulation suitable for oxygen-compatible cryogenic service, though the units are configured for liquid hydrogen. For DOT purposes, conversion between cryogenic products generally requires re-certification and compatibility review—LH2 equipment moving to other cryogens would need evaluation of materials, insulation type, and cleaning requirements.
What condition is the vacuum in, and how would I verify it?
As brand new 2023 units, the vacuum should be factory-fresh, but the listing provides no vacuum level readings or pump-down data. Ask the seller for current vacuum gauge readings and whether the units have been charged and sealed at the factory. On cryogenic trailers, vacuum quality is verified by monitoring pressure rise in the annular space over time or by directly measuring vacuum level if a gauge port is accessible—acceptable ranges are typically in the low micron range for new equipment.
