Questions buyers ask

Is this sized for my peak demand or my average?

Vaporizers are sized for peak demand, not average flow. Ambient air units like this one derate in cold weather—typically losing 20-30% of nameplate capacity below 40°F—so if you experience winter peaks you'll need to account for that. The 9,311 SCFH rating on this unit represents capacity under standard ambient conditions.

What gases can it be put into service with, given what it ran before?

The listing does not state what gas this unit previously vaporized. Oxygen-clean units should generally remain in oxygen service; switching from inert gases to oxygen requires cleaning and recertification. Ask the seller for service history and whether the unit was oxygen-cleaned, as that will determine what requalification is needed for your intended gas.

What are the installation and utility requirements?

Ambient air vaporizers require no external utilities—they rely on natural convection and atmospheric heat transfer. This unit's footprint is 26" x 18" with a height of 114", so verify you have adequate clearance around the fins for airflow. You'll need appropriate flanged or threaded connections to match your cryogenic supply line and downstream piping rated for 150 PSIG service.

What should I inspect on a used vaporizer before buying?

Check the fin condition closely—look for corrosion, physical damage, or frost patterns indicating leaks in the coil. Inspect all headers, connections, and tube-to-header joints for cracks or previous repairs, and verify the nameplate and any code stamps are legible. Request documentation on hydrostatic test history and ask when the last pressure test was performed, as you'll likely need recertification before placing it in service.
