Questions buyers ask

What is the MAWP and capacity at service pressure?

The operating pressure is listed as 3,600 PSIG with a hydrostatic test pressure of 6,000 PSIG, which indicates the MAWP is 3,600 PSIG. Total storage capacity across all four tanks is 71.5 gallons (16,519 cubic inches) at the 3,600 PSIG service pressure.

What is the requalification or inspection status?

The tanks were last inspected in April 2022, with an original manufacture and test date of January 2015. DOT Type 3 composite cylinders typically require requalification every 3 or 5 years depending on the specific specification, so you should verify the applicable requalification interval, confirm what type of inspection was performed in 2022, and determine whether they're due or overdue based on the DOT marking.

What should I inspect before putting it into service?

Verify the carbon fiber overwrap for visible damage, abrasion, cuts, or impact marks, and inspect the aluminum liner through the neck for internal corrosion or contamination—composite cylinders can fail catastrophically if the liner is compromised. Check all valve threads, O-rings, and pressure relief devices for damage or deterioration, confirm the certification markings are legible and the cylinders are within their qualified service life, and verify compatibility between any residual gas service history and your intended use. If these tanks stored hydrogen, internal embrittlement of the aluminum liner may be a concern depending on cycling history.
