Questions buyers ask

What is the current vacuum reading, and what is the NER?

The listing does not provide the current vacuum level or normal evaporation rate. Request the most recent vacuum gauge reading (typically measured in microns) and the NER (typically expressed as a percentage of capacity per day) from the seller, along with the date those measurements were taken. On tanks this age, accumulated insulation degradation can significantly increase heat leak even if the vacuum jacket remains intact.

Is the data plate legible, and is the U-1A available?

The listing does not confirm data plate condition or U-1A form availability. Request photos of the nameplate showing the ASME stamp, National Board number, and all construction details, along with a copy of the manufacturer's U-1A data report. For a 1969 vessel, verify whether subsequent rerating or repair forms (U-2, U-3) exist, as these affect allowable operating conditions.

What is involved in relocating and re-commissioning it?

The listing does not address de-commissioning status or relocation requirements. At 69" diameter and 209" length, transport will require permits and possibly route surveys depending on your location relative to Waxahachie, TX. Typical re-commissioning includes vacuum testing, pressure testing, relief valve recertification, instrumentation calibration, and a jurisdiction-dependent inspection; vessels out of service for extended periods may require radiographic examination of critical welds before returning to operation.
