Questions buyers ask

What is the current vacuum reading, and what is the NER?

The listing does not provide current vacuum reading or normal evaporation rate data. For a vessel of this age and service history, request recent vacuum trend data and NER measurements at ambient conditions—both metrics are critical for assessing inner vessel integrity and remaining economic life. High-pressure cryogenic vessels typically show vacuum degradation over time due to insulation settlement or inner vessel micro-cracking.

Is the data plate legible, and is the U-1A available?

The listing does not confirm data plate condition or availability of the ASME U-1A manufacturer's data report. Request photos of the nameplate showing the serial number, MAWP, MDMT, and National Board number, along with a copy of the U-1A—both are required for most jurisdictions and for any future re-rating or repair work performed under the National Board's R-stamp program.

What is involved in relocating and re-commissioning it?

The listing notes the unit is in Waxahachie, TX but does not detail support configuration, foundation requirements, or current installed piping. At these dimensions (223" x 99.5" x 89") and an estimated 40,000–50,000 lb empty weight typical for this capacity range, you will need heavy rigging, oversize transport permits, and likely escort vehicles. Re-commissioning typically requires vacuum testing, NER baseline establishment, pressure relief device recertification or replacement, and inspection by the local jurisdiction's authorized inspector before returning to service.
